We Won! A Million Clean Cars. | CALPIRG Students

This is a pretty important step in our fight to curb global warming emissions. 

Here in California, the number one source of global warming pollution comes from cars. We’ve had the technology to produce zero emission vehicles for years now, but the oil industry has been doing what they can to keep us dependent on dirty fossil fuels.

The Million Clean Cars program will make it cheaper and easier for Californians to switch to clean cars and reduce their global warming impact.  We’re really excited that the legislature passed it and that Governor Brown signed it.

Update: 20,000 Petitions In! | CALPIRG at UC Santa Barbara

Fracking is an extremely dangerous form of drilling that uses millions of gallons of water laced with toxic chemicals. If we allow oil companies to frack in California we face an environmental nightmare – millions of gallons of water that we don't have will be wasted, not to mention we’ll destroy our beautiful places and contribute more to our global warming problem.

Happy Earth Day! Take Action for the Earth Today. | CALPIRG

This earth day we are reminded once again that our planet's climate is changing, we are facing  the worst drought in California history and the wildfires and superstorms over the past year have become the new normal.

California is the 12th largest emitter of carbon pollution worldwide and the single largest source of that pollution is cars and trucks.
